The Reserve

A landscape inhabited, not merely visited.

Southern Cross is a private safari estate in Namibia's Kunene Region, spanning approximately 17,000 hectares of plains, granite mountains and water.

It is not a conventional lodge. The reserve is received one family or one group at a time, and that singular decision changes everything. For the duration of a stay, one steps into a private world — with all the ease, freedom and quiet privilege that such seclusion affords.

Location

At the threshold of Damaraland, on the edge of Etosha.

Forty kilometres north of Kamanjab on the road toward Opuwo, Southern Cross lies in one of Namibia's most sought-after wildlife regions. At its northern edge, the reserve meets the greater Etosha system — the rare experience of staying on a private farm with the sense of being part of something far larger.

The Residences

Three ways of inhabiting the reserve.

Each residence has its own character — but all are part of a broader experience of exclusive-use safari living.

The Lapa

Where the reserve gathers.

At the heart of the reserve, a vast thatched lapa overlooks a natural lake whose surface shifts with the hour and the weather. Long breakfasts. Lingering lunches. Fireside evenings and dinners under the Namibian sky.

What Our Guests Say
“We have stayed at the finest lodges across Africa. Southern Cross is something else entirely. The privacy, the vault, the feeling that this immense landscape is yours alone — it's incomparable.”
James & Catherine R.
London, United Kingdom
“My children collected eggs before breakfast, and by dinner we were tasting 1950 Macallan in the vault. Where else does that exist? We've returned three times.”
The Almeida Family
São Paulo, Brazil
“The rifle range alone would justify the trip. But it's the silence at dawn, the staff who remember everything, and the sense that nothing here is performed — that's what brings us back.”
Nikolai V.
Zurich, Switzerland
“Twenty-two guests across all three residences for my husband's 60th. Private chef, sundowners at Sniper Mountain, White Rhino at dawn. Not a single detail missed.”
Patricia M.
New York, United States
Exclusive Use

The estate is received as a whole.

Southern Cross is not a lodge with rooms to let. The reserve — all 17,000 hectares, three types of residences, the vault, the lapa, the staff — is placed entirely at the disposal of one party at a time. Availability is limited and by private enquiry only.
